Health has always been very important to me. I’ve been trying to be my healthiest self ever since I was a kid. I think it’s been an interest that’s come pretty naturally to me, thanks to my mom and her best friend always talking about health and healthy ways of life when I was a kid. As an adult I’ve created a bunch of daily health habits that’s become a routine for me, and since I’ve already shared some of them on my Instagram-account – why not share them here on my blog as well..? Here we go…
🍋 The first thing I do every morning is that I drink one liter of water with lemon and ginger in it. My friend Sandra does the same thing, but she does it with warm water and I’m not really there yet. I drink mine cold because I’m too lazy to heat the water up, lol.
🥥 I make sure to eat fats throughout the day, because fats are really important for the health of our brains, digestion and our skin & hair. I get most of my fats from coconut oil, olive oil, tahini and peanut butter. I wish I could eat avocado on a daily basis, but my stomach can’t seem to handle avocadoes too well, which is a shame! Sometimes I’ll have salmon, and I make sure to eat omega 3 supplements every day.
💭 I make sure to sleep at least 7 hours per night. 7 seems to be the magic number for me to function properly, with 8 being even better. Sometimes I’ll sleep for 10 hours, but I can almost count those nights in one year on my fingers. You do know that getting enough sleep and drinking enough water slows your aging, right?
🌲 I make sure to spend some time out in nature every day. This is really important for all of us, but only a few realize it… Spending time in nature grounds us and keeps us connected to the natural Earth, where we all come from. Time in nature also helps keep our lungs in shape, as we need the kind of fresh air that we’ll only get out in nature. Being outside is also very important for our vitamin D intake, that we get from the rays of the sun.
🌱 I eat a bunch of Chlorella every day. Chlorella is an algae packed with antioxidants and minerals. It’s also detoxifying and helps with clearing out toxins from the body. I’ve been eating chlorella for years and I can honestly tell you that it works, at least for me and my body. I feel so much more energized when I eat chlorella (yeah I’ve taken some breaks from it just to test) and it definitely detoxes the body!
🍏 I drink water with apple cider vinegar in it. Not daily, but every now and then! I also use ACV as a facial toner and have been using it for years. 50/50 ACV and water – works wonders for the skin. So simple, so cheap, lol. I really don’t believe in having to use a million products for the skin, simplicity is key. But ofc, I can only speak from my own experience!
🥝 I eat a lot of fruits and berries, every single day. Currently eating a lot of bananas, kiwis, green apples, raspberries, cherries, watermelon, pineapple, and mini tomatoes (yeah, did you know that tomatoes are actually fruit?? Mmindblown). Fruits & berries are SO important for your health, and I know that I need them in my diet not only for the vitamins but also for my digestion. Especially kiwi is such a good fruit for functioning digestion! It’s packed with fiber as well as vitamin C (which also aids in digestion).
🥥 I do oil pulling for the health of my teeth and gums. It also gives me a fresh breath! And to be honest, I also think it helps with keeping my skin in check. I use coconut oil for oil pulling, but you can also use olive oil. I also use an all-natural, fluoride-free toothpaste and have been doing that for years… There was also a time when the only toothpaste I used was a mix of coconut oil and baking soda, but the baking soda was a bit harsh for my teeth I noticed – so I returned to an all-natural toothpaste instead.
