You know when life takes off, and suddenly you are just so busy living that you forget about all of the things you were “supposed to do”..? Well, that’s what happened to me. I was supposed to be blogging at least twice a week during my time in California, but, then life happened. After 5 weeks here in California, it definitely feels like I’ve created some sort of life here, and it feels kind of strange, to be honest.
There are different kinds of long-time travel. Either you live life to the fullest and stay in hotels, Airbnb’s, etc. and eat out all the time – or you do it like I’m doing right now, you stay in an actual apartment and cook your meals at home, do your laundry at home, clean every week, and so on. The problem when going for the second option, like I’m doing, is that you start to feel like home. But, it’s a really bittersweet feeling as you know that you will have to go home eventually… It truly feels really, really strange and even though I’ve done it before (I was in California for 2 months back in 2012, staying in an apartment and “feeling at home” etc.), the feeling has managed to surprise me this time around.
But you know what, I really like it here! Well, of course, I do, I’ve always loved California. I’ve gotten to know new people here, some who I even consider friends at this point (hej Julia), and I’ve just had a really good time, to be honest. I’ve also dated. I don’t know if I should be writing about that on my blog, haha, but yes – this girl has dated. Not a lot, but still, I’ve gone on dates and gotten to know some guys. Some better, some not so good. I feel like “getting back on the horse again” after 5 years in a relationship was a must when I’m in California. But, it’s really tricky as I need to leave at some point, I tend to fall very hard when I fall – so I have to be really careful with this dating thing. OK but let’s leave the dating situation, it is kind of weird writing about that, isn’t it..? Haha.
OK so social life has been good. What else has been going on during my 5 weeks in California? Well, I’ve been in Malibu a few times (2 times to be exact). I’ve also been in Manhattan Beach playing beach volley and day drinking. In Hermosa Beach just chilling and eating some really good food. Been at my favorite place The Grove a few times, and of course, peeked into See’s Candies to get a free sample (hehehe). I’ve been hiking in Runyon Canyon, gone on long walks in Santa Monica and Palisades Park. I’ve spent time in Venice, the beach in Santa Monica, discovered new bars, been to a small nightclub, had dinner at the hyped Catch LA (yes, the food was INSANE!), met up with some LA influencers, had a whole lotta acai bowls, spent time at the pool, and so on.
What I haven’t done yet, and still have on my to-do list here is the following: go to Griffith Park, go to the Dog Cafe (which I’m doing next week, yay), go to my favorite beach in Malibu, drive to Laguna Beach for a day-trip, discover downtown LA daytime, and so on. There’s a bunch more but I don’t wanna write them down if they don’t happen, because then I’ll be disappointed, haha.
OK well, now I’m gonna wrap up this very spontaneous blog post… And instead, just ask you to leave a comment down below if there’s anything specific you’d like to read about..? Things you wanna know about LA..? Let me know, pleaaaase, and also please don’t forget to follow me on Instagram ♥
