I’m back from our 2 week California road trip! I’ve obviously got a lot to write about the trip, as we experienced a lot and got to see so many things… But, in this first post, I thought I’d tell you about what snacks kept me fueled during the trip! Because road trip snacks are a must. If you’ve got low blood sugar like me, you probably know what I’m talking about… Keep on reading!

Humble snacks – perfect for Joshua Tree
Two of our fourteen nights in California were spent in Joshua Tree, and for those of you who don’t know much about Joshua Tree – it’s very remote so you need to pretty much bring your own food. Sure, there are some bars and restaurants, but they don’t have the best foods for a gluten-intolerant vegetarian. And inside the actual national park, there’s nothing. SO, bringing your own foods and snacks are basically a must, at least for a person with low blood sugar like myself. And as an ambassador for Humble – I obviously brought my favorite snacks from them to Joshua Tree!
Having been an ambassador for Humble snacks 3 months now, I’ve gotten to taste all their products and managed to find my absolute favorite snacks in their assortment. You might know that the green smoothie is my absolute favorite (read more here), but for road trip snacks in California (as I couldn’t bring the smoothies to the US) my favorites were the Snack Mix -bags and Big Bite Oats, Peanut & Chocolate -bars. The Snack Mixes are organic, while the Big Bite bars are mostly organic (there are some ingredients that aren’t). Both are vegan, which every other Humble product also is!
Nuts and bars really are the perfect snacks for any road trip really! Why? Well, because the nuts are usually a bit salty (at least the Snack Mix nuts are lightly salted), and the bars a bit sweet – which means that you’re getting both salt and sugar to keep you fueled. I usually avoid sugar, but when I am away on a road trip I really need something sugary for my blood sugar falls, as it usually will be a whole lot of hours between “real meals” when road tripping…
Let’s just say I’ve learned this from failing and lacked out on other people, or almost fainted and/or fallen asleep from not having enough sugar in my blood… Yes… So, nowadays I make sure to always have some kind of bars with sugar in them with me when I road trip (or travel in general). Of course, the Humble bars aren’t “packed” with sugar, but they do contain a little bit of cane sugar and rice syrup. And thus, I wouldn’t eat them every day – but as I said, whenever I’m road tripping or traveling in general and know that I might be needing sugar at some point!
I guess that was it about the snacks during my California road trip, I managed to stay happy and awake the entire trip thanks to always having Humble snacks in the car, yay! ♥

Ps! You do know that you can find Humble products in most food markets here in Finland, not only in their webshop..? I’ve seen them in Citymarket, MiniMani, K-Market, and K-Supermarket so far.
