Summer means more time to be lazy. More time to read books, preferably on the beach. I read a ton of books every Summer! And yes, I read them while I’m at the beach. But also, when I go on roadtrips, like we’ve been doing for the last Summers… As I’ve read a lot of books in the past years, I feel like I have the knowledge to say which ones are good or not – so, here comes a post with my best tips on 5 books to read this Summer!
You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living An Awesome Life
by Jen Sincero
This book works as a real kick-in-the-butt! It’s actually one of the books that gave me the courage to quit my job last year, to become an entrepreneur. The book is easy to read, has a bit of humor, and gives SO much inspiration!
The woman I wanted to be by Diane von Furstenberg
I’ve never been much of a fan of Diane von Furstenberg, nor her clothes, but somehow I still felt compelled to read her book. I read the book under a palm tree in the Maldives, which was the perfect location to read this book at – as the book will make you crave luxury and vacation! It’s all about Diane and her history – growing up and becoming the bosswoman that she is today. The book is very inspiring, and also very easy to read!
I can’t make this up by Kevin Hart
I saw this book on Julia Holmqvist’s blog (or was it her Instagram account?) and was curious enough to order it for myself. The book walks through Kevin Hart’s history, from his childhood today, as written by himself. It’s interesting and inspiring but can feel a bit dull from time to time. But, if you manage to pull through the dull parts of the book – you’ll finish it feeling like the book gave you a lot of inspiration. I truly recommend reading it, even though you’re not a fan of Kevin, it’s inspiring anyway.
How to be an overnight success by Maria Hatzistefanis
I read this book on a beach in Greece last Fall, and was surprised by how fast I read it! The book is incredibly easy to read and so inspiring. Maria is the woman behind the skincare/beauty brand Rodial, and the book is all about her history and also about Rodial’s history and their recipe for success. I absolutely loved this book and found it oh so inspiring. I immediately wanted to start my own brand after reading it, haha.
Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler
Last but not least, is my favorite of these 5 books! This is the only one of the five that is a fictional book. I’ve been bad at reading fiction in the last years, but still, I was curious about this one. And man, this books is SO good! I was completely obsessed with it and read it so, so fast. I didn’t want the book to ever end, that’s how good it was… Luckily, they’ve even created a tv-show based on the book! There’s only one season of it, but I have hopes that they’ll release the second soon… Read this book, I promise you it’s great! Tip: it might be even better reading it while sipping red wine.
Have you read any of these books yet? ♥
